The two hydro companies that have been supplying hydro to the people of Ontario are just getting more and more intimidating. I was actually told this winter that it does not matter if we are keeping our heat off and trying to use less hydro, sometime that does not relate to the bill amounts. We live in a very small 2 bedroom bungalow and we were getting the same hydro bills as my sister who lives in a large 4 bedroom country home running on electric heating. I want an explanation as to how this is possible, I want to see regular hydro rates, I do NOT want to be paying hydro what they see fit... I want to pay hydro for what we use.
I have been reading many stories online from different families and individuals stating that they have been receiving disconnection notices even though they have been paying Hydro on a monthly basis. We have been giving Hydro Ottawa $290.00 - $450.00 payments every month throughout the winter. On March 17th 2016 I made a $450.00 payment, yesterday when i came home from work I received a disconnection notice for a $200.00 bill! This is happening to Ontario citizens everywhere. I seen 4 people post about having their hydro cut off in the matter of 2 days when payments have been made just weeks before.
Gatineau pays $64.00 on a $250.00 Ontario bill. I, as well as many others need an explanation as to how they are able to give their citizens such low (normal, reasonable) rates when our bills continue to double even when less Hydro is being used.
Please help me stick up for our people. Help me show that it is not our jobs to pay $450.00 month to help the province try and even out their horrible debt issues. Hard working Ontario citizens should not have to come home from a long day of work, to fear turning on the lights, the stove, the tv. We should not fear every hydro bill that we receive that is UN-explainable and usually higher then the previous bill.
We NEED to stand up for ourselves or this issue is only going to grow to much higher and much more sever as we are told these extreme Hydro rates are "normal". Let your voice be heard!
