Gender Wage Gap in California

    Help Pass Senate Bill 1284

In California and the majority of the United states, on average women earn roughly 70 cents to the white man's dollar even while working the same job.

California's gender income gap is damaging because it; affects families abilities to make ends meet, limits economic growth for the united states, limits women’s ability to care for children and the household, and the gap jeopardizes women’s retirement security. These problems could be solved if women were paid equally, and you can help make a difference!

    How You Can Help

    INFORMATION
Senate Bill 1284 was designed to collect data and expose gender based pay discrepancies. The bill would require all California companies with 100 or more employees to submit a pay data report to the California Department of Industrial Relations that would include; number of workers and their race sex and total earnings of each employee.

    CONSEQUENCES
If wage discrepancies were caught between mens and womens earnings for doing substantially similar jobs, the state could take action under The Equal Pay Act.

    CURRENT PROGRESS
Currently senate bill 1284 is in the process of being reviewed by the senate appropriation committee and we need your help to get it passed. You can do this by this adding your name to this petition to finally gain pay equity between men and women in California.
