Stop Standardized Testing

In high school students are required to take standardized tests to measure their abilities and where they stand in their ranking. Many people agree with this test because it ensures that the teachers and school systems will be held accountable to the tax payers. What they don't realize is how negatively these standardized tests can affect students. If one scores too low they can be held back a grade, and many people say that these tests are too "drill like."

Your score on a standardized test shouldn't define the kind of scholar you are. These tests value what we are able to memorize more than what we actually know as a student. Oftentimes during these tests students are required to read a passage and then answer questions about that passage, but if someone is a slow reader and goes over the time limit they aren't going to be as capable as someone who loves to read. It narrows the curriculum and doesn't allow the students taking it to be critical thinkers.

Join our cause to help stop standardized testing. A test shouldn't define who we are.
