US Club Class Association petition for SSA adoption of FAI rules for 2013 US Club Class Nationals

  • by: Sean Franke / Sean Fidler
  • recipient: US competition pilots interested in forming the first SSA sanctioned racing class using established worldwide standards - FAI (IGC) Rules

Today, US pilots of ALL competition classes have only one choice, SSA racing rules.  US Rules differ significantly from established FAI (IGC) rules which are used at soaring competitions worldwide.  Many US pilots strongly wish the new US Club Class to race under internationally established FAI rules.  FAI rules offer higher quality racing, are easier to understand, safer, simpler, and proven successful worldwide.

In fact, US rules are actually not attractive to many US pilots.  Many US Pilots are concerned that unlike FAI, newly proposed US Club Class Rules will allow a far wider handicap range of gliders (LS6 to SGS 2-33). Racing tasks (assigned task) under this broader range will be impossible.  US Club Class enthusiasm, racing quality and growth will suffer significantly.

US Club Class pilots do not want this expanded handicap range.  US Club Class pilots want to race under the same rules which have been proven successful and embraced internationally!

The purpose of this petition is to demonstrate the number of US pilots who want formation of the new US Club Class to adopt FAI (IGC) rules, handicaps and tasking philosophy.  Join us and sign this petition today if you agree with the viewpoints expressed above.  Thank You for your support!!!
