Petition To Free Guyman Jurisingh

Guyman Jurisingh who has served 33 years in prison in Trinidad and Tobago for an alleged murder, of which someone had given an eight (8) page confession by Affidavit, that two (2) persons (names called) and the person who give the Affidavit had actually committed the murder and kidnapping that Jurisingh was charged and convicted for and that Jurisingh is innocent.

Jurisingh was read the Death Warrant on two (2) occasions, one being illegal, because Lawyers at the time were arguing a constitutional motion for him before the Court in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.

The action by the authorities was opposed by Lawyers who stated then that such action to hang him amounted to 'Contempt of Court'.

His conviction was based pearly on circumstantial evidence, and a report by a Chemist who give an inconclusive report that soil found on one location cannot be found on another location.

This report was eventually dealt with exclusively by World renowned English chemist and lecturer Dr. Elizabet M. Abraham who claimed such report was unsafe and unsound to be used for conviction.

Despite all his punishment, Jurisingh continue to languish in prison, with on one in authority being mindful of his plight.

Over the years in prison Jurisingh ambition to achieve and survive have let him to achieve some twenty-five (25) Certificates and Diplomas in various studies. Despite his achievements Jurisingh continue to suffer grave injustice, he has since lost his father and mother and loved ones and practically have no one.

At present he is serving a life sentence the Court already deemed illegal (natural life sentence).

All in all Jurisingh has already spent more than 33 years in prison, more than twice the amount on a normal life sentence according to English laws that Trinidad and Tobago follows.
