Ontario demands lift on patio smoking ban

When will we take a stand? The laws started slowly, eventually leading to the ban of smoking in restaurants and indoor public places - which we, as smokers, understand. The smoke lingers in a contained space, and can bother non-smokers. However, the recent ban of smoking on patios, seems to push the limit. We are outside. If we can't smoke inside, and we can't smoke outside, what is left? Even non-smokers enjoy a smoke on the patio, in the summer, with a cold beer. We simply suggest, as a compromise, to have a smoking and non-smoking section on the patios. Again, we understand that it was a useless rule indoors and in restaurants. The smoke was contained. We often hear the analogy of having a peeing and non-peeing section in a pool. Understandable. However, a patio is outside. The air blows it away! If anything, make it that it has to be a certain sized patio so there's enough of a space between the two sections. Because really, what does a fence do? We literally just have to step on the other side of the fence and then all of a sudden we're fine to smoke? Of course! The people are protected by an invisible force field that the fence provides... It doesn't make sense! It's time we put an end to these ridiculous demands. We all share this world. Let's share the patios.
