Parkruns (free group running events in parks) are completely voluntary events to help promote health and wellbeing - they are available to all walks of society. Not everyone can pay for gym membership but they can join like-minded people to run, get fit, have fun and meet people. The event also encourages the younger generation to take up running, keep fit or some other activity.
Stoke Gifford Parish Council have decided that they want to charge for parkruns to take place. They are the only Council to do this. As a result, the existence of Stoke Gifford park run at its existing park is at risk.
Please sign this petition to show the council that they have made a mistake with this decision and demand that they retract it - the community needs parkruns to continue to be free to runners and the voluntary organisation should not be charged for providing this service to the community either.
