Boycott "Gods of Egypt" Film for Whitewashing History!

If you were interested in seeing the new film Gods of Egypt in the hopes of learning more about Ancient Egyptian culture or mythology, there's bad news: all but one of the actors in the main cast are white, and not a single one is of Middle Eastern descent.

While it's understandable for a fantasy film to take some liberties with the historical record, refusing to cast actors who reflect the ethnic makeup of the region the film is set in is insulting. It's also denying opportunities to Middle Eastern actors who may have a difficult time being cast outside of a narrow range of roles. In a political climate where most of the available parts involve depictions of terrorists, this is especially galling.

Send a message to Lionsgate Films: sign this petition and pledge to boycott "Gods of Egypt" on its April, 2016 release date! If enough of us refuse to support this movie, we can send a message to film studios that continuing to whitewash films about non-white characters is unacceptable in the 21st century.
