Medicaid Expansion for South Carolina

$16 billion in federal funds in support of expansion for South Carolina are at risk; 340,000 individuals earning less than $15,000 are uninsured; children, women, seniors and the mentally ill continue to suffer needlessly; essential services and equipment used in hospitals and clinics will not be funded.            The people have spoken: over 65% of South Carolina supports Medicaid expansion.

Six in ten adults living with a mental health condition went without any mental health care in the past year; four in ten received no mental health services in the previous year; in most states, low-income adults who are not on disability are not eligible for Medicaid even if they have high mental health needs.

More than a quarter-million veterans who lack health insurance will miss out on Medicaid coverage because they live in states that have declined to expand the program under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

Please, contact your elected officials and let them know you support Medicaid expansion. Coalition efforts are on the increase across South Carolina. Let's stand together and push for expansion now!
