We, the undersigned, affirm our support for the following core principles:
1. Federally-funded basic research has made and continues to make important contributions to our nation’s health, economy, and defense.
2. Scientific research should be ethical, transparent, and conducted with intellectual rigor.
3. Open discussion of scientific methods and scientific findings should be encouraged, both among scientists and with the broader public.
4. Science is a global effort that crosses national borders.
