Newalta Dog Park NEEDS to be bigger

The new Newalta Dog park on the East Mountain is about to open.  The City and Newalta made an agreement to put huge amounts of money into a 23 hectare Passive Dog park and somehow felt it was OK to make only 2 hectare the leash free area.  New subdivisions are popping up weekly in this area which means more and more dogs, yards are small and there is NO where else to RUN your dogs as Dartnall is closing their leash free park to the public.  Ancaster has a 22 acre leash free park that is absolutely amazing and there are hundreds of dogs and people that frequent the park daily and care for the park.  It will be EXTREMELY dangerous to put all the dogs from around here in a small fenced in area.  With all this space SURELY the city can support increasing this park to at least 15 acres or even 20.  There already exists a passive park kitty corner to this one in Valley Park that is rarely used except in the evenings by teenagers for drinking and doing drugs.  This new 23 hectare area will provide a place for bush parties and not be fully used during the day.  A dog park would be frequented daily by hundreds 365 days of the year.  Please sign below to let City Council now we want SPACE for our dogs to run safely
