Don't Let Oil Companies Hide Information About Leaks!

A Tioga, North Dakota oil well named Ron Burgundy has been leaking oil since Friday, May 9th, when officials were first notified about the problem. But a confidentiality agreement is letting Emerald Oil hide details about the spill from the public.

According to Department of Mineral Resources director Alison Ritter, emergency services were notified in regards to the Ron Burgundy spill because the potential for a threat was there, but the Department didn't consider health or human safety to be at risk.

If a spill is significant enough to notify emergency services, it is only fair to notify the public as well, so they can brace themselves and prepare for a possible disaster. The current system keeps them off their guard, which puts their health and property at risk. Please sign the petition to urge the North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources to stop letting companies hide information about oil leaks!

As you know, a Tioga, North Dakota oil well named Ron Burgundy has been leaking oil since Friday, May 9th, when officials were first notified about the problem. We are concerned that a confidentiality agreement is letting Emerald Oil hide details about the spill from the public.

If a spill is significant enough to notify emergency services, we believe it is only fair to notify the public as well, so they can brace themselves and prepare for a possible disaster. The current system keeps them off their guard, which puts their health and property at risk. We respectfully urge you to stop letting companies hide information about oil leaks.
