Tell Google to Make The Definition of Marriage More Inclusive!

While researching for a project for my senior Civil Rights class, I looked up the definition for marriage. My original plan was to use the direct definition as a piece of my project, but now the definition is my project.

Google’s definition for marriage is “the legally or formally recognized union of a man and a woman (or, in some jurisdictions, two people of the same sex) as partners in a relationship.”

As it is 2016, this definition seems outdated, and should be changed to something more inclusive. The current definiton ignores people who are genderfluid and people who do not conform to a gender at all. Google's definition also positions heterosexual marriage above homosexual marriage.

I propose that Google instead define marriage as: "The legal or formally recognized union between two consenting adults as partners in a relationship, which may be based around love and commitment."

A previous petition started by Mike Raven nearly four years ago asked for support in changing the definition on Dictionary.com. He received an overwhelming amount of support and since then the definition has been changed.

Seeing as many people use Google to find definitions, I think it would be awesome for Google to correct the definition, or put pressure on the provider of the definition, so that it is more inclusive and recognizes everyone.
