The Mid-West Pets Cat Playpen has dangerous gaps at its corners that can cause serious harm.
Cats have gotten their toes caught in the gaps, resulting in excruciating pain, severe injury and, ultimately, amputation.
Small children could also suffer severe injury by getting fingers caught between the panels of the cage. So can other animals.
We demand that Mid-West Homes for Pets recall this hazardous product and correct the flaws in its design and construction.
At five a.m. one morning, we were shocked awake by the sound of a cat screeching in pain. We ran out to our living room and saw our cat Scottie hanging by one toe from the corner of the cage we had recently bought for a litter of kittens we were fostering. Her toe was caught in a gap between the panels of the cage, and she was twisting and writhing in mid-air in a futile effort to free herself. She hung there in excruciating pain for several minutes while we struggled to release her toe from the bars of the cage. By the time were able to free her, the toe was so severely damaged that it had to be amputated. This cage, the Cat Playpen (Model 130) by Mid-West Homes for Pets, has dangerous gaps at its corners that make it easy for cats to catch thir toes, resulting in severe pain and irreparable injury. Similar cages made by other manufacturers do not have these gaps. But in spite of my complaints, Mid-West Homes for Pets continues to sell these hazardous cages and has to refused to reimburse me for over $1200.00 in vet bills that resulted from this cage's poor constuction and design. Please sign my petition demanding that Mid-West Homes for Pets take this dangerous cage off the market!
Keep up the great work. Look what you've accomplished!
