Make Obligee's of Child Support Accountable!

As many know, the child support system in the entire country is in serious need of mending. Thousands of parents (mothers and fathers) are forced to pay untold amounts of child support and are thrown in jail, have their driving privileges revoked and their tax refunds taken if they don't pay. This happens even when the Obligor tries to comply with the court, but simply can't afford it.

There are rules in place that are supposed to protect both parties, but it seems like more and more, child support and the state are just trying to make a quick buck off the multitude of broken homes. For example, when an obligor provides the court with all of their financial records as required by the court, and those records indicate that they are incapable of paying even the minimum. The court then raises that person's child support, tells them they have to find suitable employment, and threatens them with jail time if they do not. How is that conducive to helping the child or the parents. This sort of treatment simply alienates all parties involved, and makes the Obligor want to drop off the face of the earth to avoid dealing with the system. This in turn only hurts the child(ren).

This all begs the question, what about the obligee, the person receiving the money. How does the obligor or CSEA know that the money is being used solely to raise that child and not other children in the home, or to pay for drugs, alcohol or other items that aren't for the child? More often than not, in this addiction addled country, this is the case. Single parents and guardians alike, use the money they get for "supporting" the child for their own means.

Please sign this petition to force Obligee's to be held accountable for where the money goes in the form of receipts and other proofs.
