Induct Oakland Raider WR Cliff Branch into the Pro Football Hall Of Fame

  • by: John Urness
  • recipient: Pro Football Hall of Fame Senior Selection Comittee

In his career and era, Cliff Branch was one of the most feared and respected WR's in the NFL despite his size. He has 3 Super Bowl Rings, 3-1st team All Pro selections and 4 Pro Bowl selections. He led the NFL in receiving yards in 1974 with 1092 yards and receiving TD's with 13. In 1976 he had 46 receptions for 1,111 yards and 12 TDs, averaging 24.2 yards per catch.

When Branch retired he led the NFL in post season receptions (73) and yards (1289) for an average of (17.7) yards per catch, Scoring (5) TD's. He is currently 3rd All Time in postseason yardage trailing only Michael Irvin and Jerry Rice.

Cliff has better stats than many of the current modern era WR's in the HOF. Retired in 1985 with 8685 yards, 67 TD's in 501 games. Comparing him to wide receivers of his era, his numbers more than hold their own. Branch was at his best in big games, and the Raiders had many

I personally believe this is a player that has been overlooked, and is not receiving the credit he deserves. Please take a moment to sign this petition so we can right this wrong.
