Demand Chick-fil-A Drop Its Opposition to "Eat More Kale" Trademark

Bo Muller-Moore makes "Eat More Kale" t-shirts, one by one, in a small home-based studio in Vermont.  When he tried to trademark the slogan "Eat More Kale" in 2011, fast food corporate giant Chick-fil-A stepped in to oppose his application.  They believe "Eat More Kale" is too similar to Chick-fil-A's "eat mor chickin" slogan, and that customers may see the shirt and "confuse" the two products. That's just silly, but the company's well-funded legal oppostition is poised to shut down Bo's family business completely.  That's not fair.  Sign this petition to ask Chick-fil-A to back off.

Dear Mr. Cathy:

Those who have signed this petition, like many other members of the public, are wondering why the corporate leadership of Chick-fil-A, Inc. believes it to be necessary to oppose the trademark application for "Eat More Kale" submitted by Bo Muller-Moore.

We understand that the basis for your objection to his application is that you feel the "Eat More Kale" slogan is “likely to cause confusion of the public and dilutes the distinctiveness of Chick-fil-A’s intellectual property and diminishes its value.”

Mr. Cathy, trust the American public. We are smart enough to understand that the words "Eat More Kale" on a t-shirt or sticker have nothing at all to do with Chick-fil-A and its "eat mor chikin" slogan. We can eat more of one thing without eating less of another.

There is no reason why Mr. Muller-Moore's small business, which he's been operating for over 13 years now and which supports his family, should be destroyed over "confusion" that doesn't even exist.

We ask you to drop your opposition and allow Mr. Muller-Moore to complete his trademark application and continue producing his "Eat More Kale"shirts. The goodwill you would inspire by doing so would far outweigh the negative perception much of the public will be left with if you maintain your current position in this matter.

Mr. Muller-Moore's t-shirt business truly isn't harming Chick-fil-A's bottom line in any way.

We thank you for giving this matter the attention it deserves.
