Tell the GOP: Stop hurting us. Pick a Speaker who won't shut down the government in December!

What did the last Republican-led government shutdown mean for you - or for your family, your friends, and your city?

Across the country, 800,000 Americans were furloughed without pay. They got their paychecks almost a month later, but that didn't help folks who needed those checks on time to make rent. Missing a rent payment can be a humilating, and terrifying, experience.

John Boehner was a horrible Speaker of the House, but at least he actually wanted to govern. The candidates lining up to replace him can't say the same thing. Tell the Republican Caucus: Elect a Speaker and Majority Leader who won't shut down the government in December or default on our debts!

The economy was slashed by $25 billion - and the government couldn't back new mortgages or small business loans while it was closed. Can you imagine your business, or your employer, closing its doors for good because you couldn't get a loan in time?

Scientific research, the EPA, food safety inspections - all on hold. Which means lives lost, all because the Republicans in Congress want to play political games with your health care.

Last time, their target was the Affordabel Care Act and the 18 million Americans it insures. This time, it's Planned Parenthood and the tens of millions of women it helps.

Don't let this happen again - to your community, or the country. Tell the GOP to pick leaders who won't shut down the government or default on America's debts!
