Breakdown the unauthorised development!

In Sicily, like in all southern Italy, unauthorized development is a huge challenge for local administrators.

In 2016 30% of all the new structures were illegal, the rate is shamefully higher in regions like Calabria (61,8%) and Campania (63,3). In these regions, politics is sick: those areas seem to be lands where corruption and the mafia have always been, and political leaders follow this idea quite well.

A rare exception is Angelo Cambiano, the mayor of Licata (Sicily). Since his election in 2015, he started fighting against illegal houses on the coast side of the town. Unfortunately, in this war the mayor lost: his popularity decreased and, on August 9th of this year, he was forced to resign through a vote of no confidence.

Moreover, southern Italian political parties have left him completely alone, showing him as an evil man with the purpose of demolishing houses of good people.

Italy has some of the most beautiful coasts in the world, we can no longer tolerate that illegal behaviour. We need mayors like Angelo Cambiano! Don't you believe that politics should act to save the beautiful Italian coast?
