Legalize Marijuana

Target:
Marijuana will ensure a economic growth and medical relief to all 50 states
Sponsored by:
                Rules
1. 4 Oz limit
2. legal age for possession and use 21( same rules that apply for alcohol)

Stop the presses because the wool has been lifted from my eyes, how can you stand back and turn a blind eye to whats distributing to our economies downfall and then scream out your being treated unfairly because you couldn't stop the issue at the source, only if we had a solution you say, well there is one and its Marijuana. Now before you pass this opportunity off and throw it in with the other wild accusations you've been fed by the media listen to the real reason you should give it a second look. Marijuana has been legal before because of its many resources from Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), this simple and yet none  harmful chemical released from Marijuana can be used with cancer patients to help them regain an appetite while undergoing chemotherapy, eliminate nausea, nuerogenic pain, etc. helping you receive a more intense and stronger relief from any type of pain your in or medical reason you have and it doesnt cost an arm and a leg. I dare anyone that claims Marijuna has killed anyone to research it for your self and you'll see that there has never been a reported or non reported case that a person has overdosed on Marijuana. Marijuana can also  be made into hemp producing  a longer lasting material for clothing, jewelry and a whole variety of products that will decrease the use of having to cut down trees that create oxygen for us to live. The legalization of Marijuana will stop the constant  flow of over populated prisons therefore using  less of your tax money on keeping the prisons orginized and them actually changing when they are relesed,  leading to an increase in employment because there would be no need to a drug test for Marijuana, only the real drugs such as crack, cocaine, meth etc. Any one that has smoked  Marijuana can agree that if you stop smoking it, you won't undergo any sideeffects or withdraws but yet you'll rather take a prescription that has thousands of sideeffects that could lead to other problems and put  Marijuana in that same category as drugs and alcohol, it doesnt add up to me. Please help to legalize Marijuana not for me but for a better purpose in life.

i dont favor legalizing weed because it can cause people to be aggressive and it is a stepping stone to other more dangerous drugs, and it can lead to emotional disturbances.

I believe Marijuana should be allowed to grow and be grown by anyone just as nature intended it to be. God put it here not for man to irradicate it but to embrace its healing and calming qualities. I have been smoking it for 20 years and just had a physical where I was told I was in great shape. Whether or not it is legalized I will continue to smoke it and for now my money is funding the mexican and columbian drug lords. Wouldn't you rather our goverment and our people get that money?

If alcohol is legally regulated marijuana should be too. If you take the criminal element away marijuana use will be much safer & the USA will make money on taxes/fees.

I know alot of people that drink alcolhol everyday. They are alcoholics and can't hold down a job. They become violent over the smallest things when they drink.I've known a few people who have smoked marijuana and the only thing I saw them use violence towards was their fridge.I smoke cigarettes and can't give those up at all and yet those I know who use to smoke marijuana had no problems just stopping.Yet Cigarettes are legal?I think they should just leagalize it and give it the same standards as alcohol when it comes to driving. Thanks for letting me voice my opinion

The prejudice of this topic is simply fueled by a serious lack of education. It's clear the influence of lobbying and how money put alcohol in the front seat. Marijuana can be taxed and you won't see individuals hitting people head on from high THC levels. Putting non violent people in jail for extended periods with simple possession of marijuana is also wrong. You guys are running the country and more worried about staying in DC rather than changing policy and attacking the financial problems of this country. I still have not lost faith in you. Regards, John Batcheler

Hemp would be a great way to fight global warming. It stores carbon quickly, as an annual plant, and it can be used for stop forest destruction for paper, and fiber for clothing and many other applications. Why sites like Care2 have not promoted this aspect of its legalization is shameful!!

i personally dont like marijuana, but i do see where your comming from, one thing that i think might be of use, to your information though, the accident rate, if people are intoxicated while opperating machiney, they are more likely to have accidents. the accident rate is higher in Amsterdam, than the homicide. would their be any rules about being intoxicated and driving?????

legalizing marijuana would have the same effect that ending proabition had on alcohol. A lot less crime and maybe ending some of the meth problems.

If somebody gets drunk, they're ten times likelier to be ambulatory and to do harm with alcohol in their system. Marijuana, all people do is smoke it and their mobility is pretty much nonexistent. I'd rather have to deal with a talkative smoker than I would a drunk, someone who has a greater chance of getting physically violent at the slightest thing.

I am Dissable Vteran with Nerve damage in my back, and P.T.S.D. , And the only thing that reall helps with all my pain and mental issues would be Medical cannabis, Please put an end to arresting non violent offenders... The gov spends billions persecuting pot smokers - make it legitimate and start reaping the benefits of collecting taxes. You don't have thousands dying every year of high-on marijuana driving (they are too paranoid to go fast!). How many violent pot-heads do you know? I don't know any.

i believe it should be legalized becuz for some people it helps keep stress down and more level headed..."you are more likely to sit at a flashing red light waiting for it to turn green, then when you are drunk you are more likely just to run it"

According to the CDC/National Center for Health Statistics, the number of alcohol-induced deaths (excluding accidents and homicides) was 21,634 in 2005. The number of alcoholic liver disease deaths in the same year was 12,928. Alcohol kills, yet it is perfectly legal. Marijuana doesn't kill, and it helps cancer patients and countless others with numerous medical conditions. Legalize!
