Save Solar in Louisiana!

Nearly 4,000 good-paying jobs have been created by Louisiana's visionary efforts to support the development of the solar industry. Now the utilities, their lobbyists, and their supporters in Baton Rouge are doing everything possible to shut solar down, and put people out of work.

The legislature voted last year to sunset the state's solar tax credit in 2017, but now the utilities and groups associated with the oil and gas industry are pushing to remove the credits early. They say it's because of the state's budget deficit. If that's the truth, why are they ignoring the hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars that go to support the oil and gas industry?

New Orleans and Southern Louisiana are incredibly vulnerable to the impacts of global warming, and our economy needs the good-paying, dependable jobs that the solar energy industry provides. It's outrageous that our politicians are so ready to follow the recommendations of the utilities and their friends in the oil and gas field to shut down our leadership in solar.

Sign the petition today: tell Louisiana's politicians in the legislature and the public service commission that solar's worth saving!

From cutting tax credits to imposing miniscule generation caps, we are outraged by the efforts of Louisiana's politicians to kill the solar energy industry, and put nearly 4,000 people out of work.

This is clearly a 'death by a thousand cuts' strategy that, if successful, will be the end of thousands of good paying jobs, stop the ability of utility rate payers to save money and help the environment, and keep our state from developing a mature and successful solar energy industry.

Please cease your efforts to kill the solar industry, and instead, get behind clean energy that gives ratepayers independance and long-term savings.
