Save our. Countryside

Winsford in Cheshire is a town with little to offer to anyone residing there.  Urban sprawl has taken its toll on the town already and once green fields are now mass housing estates.

We have a waterway here known as the Flashes and this along with surrounding farmland offers residents the opportunity of recreational pursuits in the form of walking, jogging, hire riding and dog walking.  It is also abundant in wildlife including several endangered species.

These areas are under major threat from developers, who wish to build thousands of new houses in the area.  Our own town council produced a Neighbourhood plan, which was supposed to provide local people with the opportunity to say how the town should be shaped for the future.  Unfortunately, this plan was developed without any significant input from anyone other than themselves and the developers.

There are brown field sites within the area that could accommodate extra housing, but they would not provide the developers with the same profits.

We want Winsford to have a plan for the future, but not one produced by people who are just looking to make their money from other people's losses.  We want a plan that nurtures the town and uses its assets of the salt mines and flashes to bring tourism to the area and boost the economy.

Please, if you don't want further green field sites hidden under concrete, sign this petition so that we can do something to change our towns future for the better.
