I have recently returned to my parents homeland Greece, from Australia, only to find in my 40 years of absence nothing has changed? The amount of homeless starving dogs on the streets breaks my heart, they are flea and tick infested, they are skin and bones, they are starving. People just kick them out of their way and I'm disgusted that I am of this heritage? This country has not gone ahead but backwards! They all say that Greece is one of the most cultured, civilized and most beautiful countries in the world, yet they get away with mistreating such innocent creatures?
I am disgusted,I am angry, I want this stopped now? What the hell do their councils do if they do anything at all? Their excuse is that people are starving and they can't help the people let alone the animals! Well tough, stop putting the money into your own pockets and clean up the streets of these poor unwanted animals, teach your fellow countrymen that dogs as pets must be spayed/ Nuetered to prevent more homeless starving animals. Something has to be done and it has to start now.
Greece will never be anywhere near the rest of the world with this disgraceful mentality. NUETER THE ANIMALS, OPEN SHELTERS, LETS GET THIS DONE. Because seriously who wants to visit a country that mistreats their domestic animals.
Stop people chaining their animals to fences directly in the sun? Why do you own an animal if that animal is chained up 24/7! This has to stop now because I will not stop fighting for these poor defenseless creatures.

i am of Greek heritage and have recently moved to my parents home town only to find that the dogs and cats are so poorly treated, the amount of homeless dogs is apalling! You need to set up a government body that protects the rights of these animals. Someone who can teach people how to look after their own animals, before they have more unwanted puppies and kittens? The streets are riddled with homeless sick dogs. Feral cats and kittens. And I'm disgusted that Greece of all places has no respect for domestic animals welfare! STOP THIS INHUMANE TREATMENT. PASS A BILL STATING THAT UNLESS YOU ARE A REGISTERED BREEDER THEN ALL ANIMALS A PERSON OWNS PURELY AS A PET OR A GUARD DOG MUST BE NUETERED OR SPAYED TO PREVENT UNWANTED PREGNANCIES AND MORE HOMLESS DOGS AND CATS.
THIS IS GREECE, AND YOUR STREETS ARE NOT FULL OF JUST HUNGRY PEOPLE BUT HOMELESS DOGS AND CATS THAT ARE BEING TREATED HORRIFICALLY.
