This poor woman dropped her cat off at the grooming shop to get cleaned and pampered. Little did she know, that was the last time she would see Sandy, her pet. Despite the reasoning, accidental or intentional, the cat died in this groomer’s care. What is even more devastating is that Sandy the cat was cremated, much to the shock. Not only was she advised about her cat’s demise, she never was able to say good bye or have time to mourn. All her rights were stripped as a pet owner.
We are encouraging police to investigate this groomer and what really happened in this incident. The cat’s owner, Vanessa Rodriguez-McQuade dropped Sandy off for a spa day, only to get a call a few hours later that her pet was dead. Understandably disturbed, she asked for a necropsy since there was no explanation as to the cause of death for the allegedly healthy animal. However, the groomer states that it was too late; the cat was cremated!
Ms. Rodriguez-McQuade comments, saying “What really happened? She was a perfectly healthy 2-year-old cat.” There seems to be too many unanswered questions and no one has the right to cremate a pet unless given specific permission by the owner. Help us to get answers for this cat’s owner by signing and sharing this petition. Authorities need to do a full investigation to determine what really happened and if guilty, hold this groomer fully accountable. Let’s be a voice for poor Sandy!
Marysville Police Chief, Aaron W. Easton – We encourage you to do a full investigation of this groomer involved in the death of a cat that was left with her for a routine pampering. You need to determine why the cat died, how and if foul play was involved. It appears she certainly was in the wrong for taking it upon herself to have the cat cremated after its demise without even consulting the pet’s owners. Without making specific accusation, how could a healthy 2 year old cat just suddenly die and then why cremate it without permission unless there was something to cover up. Be a voice for this poor cat and find out what really happened so that the groomer is heal accountable if found guilty. Charges should include felony animal cruelty charges for the death and unwarranted cremation, along with banning her from ever working with or owning any pets in her future. Don’t allow such a situation to reoccur.
