STOP ANIMAL ABUSE IN PUERTO RICO...WILL YOU BE OUR HERO?

Please, sign this petition as a moral-abiding contract and to raise awareness of the problems facing Puerto Rico animals and those who are honestly trying to help. Let your voices be heard by the Puerto Rican government demanding change on the island for the animals. Power comes in numbers, we are the animals voices who must "sing" the injustice of what is taking place in Puerto Rico and Mexico.

My petition goes to you (the reader).  You can help create a better world by raising your voice against injustice of animal abuse and over population.  As thousands of animals are abandoned, mistreated and killed in Puerto Rico, the local goverment does nothing to stop it. Their "answer" for these issues is to kill the animals by throwing them from bridges. That will save money on the cost of euthenazation and they wont be reproducing because they are dead. Please help me and others stop this injustice. Demand change by writing your local congress men and women, write the PR govenor and Dept. of Tourism informing them that this will NO LONGER be tolerated. More money needs to be alotted from the PR Government to establish programs such as spay/neuter clinics and shelters throughout the Island to house the animals till they can be adopted. These dogs and cats deserve the same chance that the animals receive here in the states.
Raise your voice to the Puerto Rican goverment and let them know we live in a global community, were abuses will not be condoned.  Refer to the links below and write to the Governor of Puerto Rico and let him know you care about animal wellfare and will not tolerate such horendous mistreatment of animals in Puerto Rico. We come to Puerto Rico to visit and enjoy some of the worlds most beautiful beaches. We dont visit Puerto Rico to be subjected to animal abuse and 100's and 100's of abandoned animals running the streets and beaches. The American Govt. sends money to PR to help support the island, not for the government to take the money and stick it in their pockets. Demand that our tax paying dollars be spent developing programs to end over population and abuse of animals. One last request, Please contact the Dept. of Tourism and voice your concerns. Without people like myself and Steve (Achates Legacy), who traveled to PR over Christmas, these dogs would'nt stand a chance. We are their chance, their only chance! Steve started this crusade several years ago, I am only SO BLESSED that he welcomed me on board. My job...is to spread the word. Bringing my own personal insight and experience to the hearts of what I hope is thousands."POWER IS IN NUMBERS"

We the undersigned, are writing you to express our concern with animal welfare on the Island. We understand that there are only a few animal shelters throughout the island. This is a tradgedy and will not be tolerated. The rate of homeless abused animals on the island is astonishing and is "embarassing" to the locals. Puerto Rico is supposed to be a "prime" vacation spot for Americans as well as other nationalities. Puerto Rico is supposed to be BEAUTIFUL place to call home for the locals who pay your salaries. This cannot happen when you have defenseless animals that are abandoned on the streets. It is very sad to see that the Government has allowed this to happen to what could be a #1 vacation spot again..like the old days.

It is up to you to bring change to your Island and the animals that live there. We are pleading to work with those who are offering to help the animals in Puerto Rico, instead of "fighting" with them and denying them the ability to help more. Animals have rights, just as humans have rights. Please develope and support spay/neuter programs. In order to control the pet population, you have to spay and neuter all animals. This is where it all begins. Spay/neuter ends over population which in turn lowers the amount of animal abuse that takes place.

In closing, I, in addition to many other people from all over the world are asking you to end animal abuse and over population on your Island. Please bring Puerto Rico back to the once beautiful paradise it was. That being said, it does not mean killing the animals that are homeless.

I want to thank you on behalf of others for taking the time out of your demanding schedule to read this. I just hope that you understand that for me, this is very personal. I visited your Island in December. I was saddened at what I had to endure. Long nights of feeding animals that did'nt have a home. My heart broke for them and still does. Only you can make the change that will make it alittle easier for people like me who want to help the animals.

Thank you,
