Make February 4th   National Rosa Parks Day

The reasons to sign this petition are to celebrate the courage of the American woman, and that of peaceful change to a society concerned with freedom, equality, and justice.

There are no holidays that celebrate the gifts that American women have given to make our country what it is today!  While we do celebrate mothers, American women are so much more than mothers.  We are community leaders, we are visionaries, and we are courageous.  Let us have a holiday where we light up the vision that all Americans count.  Let us show our daughters, neighbors and students that their non violent voice can be heard!

Let us celebrate non violent change to make the changes to our society that will make us all stronger and better.  Bring the creative change ideas that will break down the walls of prejudice, poverty, and hopelessness.  Replace them with strong people who have hope in the best of us!

Let us prove that we are tired of giving up our seat for injustice, poverty, and hatred.  Let us no longer fear our neighbors, or going out at night.  Let us regain our right to be counted, to be safe.

Let February 4 ring every year ring with the immortal words of Rosa Parks “I would like to be known as a person who is concerned about freedom and equality and justice and prosperity for all people.”

Dear President Obama, Senator Murray, and Senator Cantwell,

Make February 4th   National Rosa Parks Day

The reasons to create a National holiday to celebrate Rosa Parks is  to celebrate the courage of the American woman who sat when all others fled, and that of peaceful change to a society concerned with freedom, equality, and justice.
