Destroy the Negative Effects of Photoshopping Models

A big issue that has raised in the past decade with our advancement in technology is the access to photoshopping for models. This has become a problem that has lead to many men and women around the world in being insecure about their appearance. In the magazines and posters of ads that we see everyday, we are exposed to unbelievably beautiful men and women, that are perfect in every way. The problem is that sometimes we forget to realise how fake these images are, and if we do know, it still somehow hurts our self-esteem knowing that that is what a beautiful image is meant to be like. In a survey taken, it was shown that 30% of high-school girls and 16% of high-school boys have an eating disorder. Teenage girls are reportedly “more afraid of gaining weight than getting cancer, losing their parents, or nuclear war.” My solution that I would like to achieve to this issue is to be able to put a label on these images. By putting a little label on the bottom right corner of photoshopped images, we are able to prevent these men and women, boys and girls from seeing the perfection before them and believing it's true. They are able to see, with the label on, that no matter how perfect this model seems, this image is modified. The label on this image, could be represented by a small little drawing of a flower. This way the whole ad won't be ruined, but this label would be able to be identified internationally and recognised (like the WHMIS Symbols). This label is able to benefit, both the customers as well as the companies as it will help many people (especially teens) self-esteem and companies will be looked upon for making the audience aware of the photoshop used. This idea of a label, may seem like a simple solution, but in the long run, will have e a meaningful impact.
