Picadilly Circus: Stop Mistreating Elephants!

The Picadilly Circus, a circus troupe performing in Santa Cruz and Napa, is borrowing two adult elephants owned and trained by Gatti Circus to use in their acts. The circus owner forces the elephants to walk on their hind legs for entertainment purposes and keeps the elephants chained or in small pens when they aren't performing or training.

Elephants carry most of their weight on their front legs and never naturally walk on their hind legs. This trick is extremely painful for these heavy animals. Their confined living conditions are equally cruel: boring, cramped pen environments cause the animals to engage in repetitive rocking behaviors never seen in nature.

It is completely unnecessary for any circus to use these exotic animals in their acts, especially when the elephants are subjected to unnatural tricks and living conditions. Please sign the petition to stop the Picadilly Circus from using mistreated elephants.

We, the undersigned, are disappointed in your decision to use mistreated elephants in your circus act. The elephants' owner trains the animals to perform painful and unnatural tricks, and keeps them in boring, cramped living environments that compromise their mental health.

It is not necessary to use elephants in circus shows, particularly when the animals are subjected to unnatural tricks and living conditions. Cruelty toward animals alienates many potential audience members from the circus.

Please reconsider the use of mistreated elephants in your circus routines. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider our petition.
