Petition to have the Catholic School Board rescind their decision to retool libraries.

Whereas; The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board made a decision April 12,2011 to retool all school libraries without consulting parents, students, or staff or engage in any debate, And whereas: This decision was made in-camera by only four(4) of the nine(9)duly elected trustees with input solely from administration , And whereas; Director Paul Picard mistakenly advised that "the students do not use the materials in the library." and is unaware of the Learning Commons Specialist role and expertise in training students in electronic information and skills that have become more critical than ever, And whereas; The librarians also help students learn to critically evaluate materials and to use information ethically, And whereas; Schools with libraries average 10-20% higher grades.
