Stop Water Privatization

Keep Public Our Waters -KPOW!! Milwaukee, WI

Target:
President Willie Hines, and the Common Council of Milwaukee, WI
Sponsored by:
Please sign this petition if you oppose the Privatization of the Milwaukee Public Water Works. The city of Milwaukee has been researching the potential of privatizing the city water. (which is also used by other local municipalities).

Access to safe and affordable water is vital for families, businesses and our community. The Milwaukee area and the entire state of Wisconsin has a huge stake in water as a resource for economic recovery, future growth, and quality of life. It is crucial that this natural resource remain under the direct control of the public.  Water is one of our greatest assets, and not a commodity to be leased or sold to the highest bidder. It should be held in the public trust and conserved for current and future generations. You can keep up to date at http://kepow.wordpress.org.

water is what we are made out of...why would we try to subsidize off of what we are created from...what our bodies consist of...the principle here lies within the perception of the responsibility to the organizations trying to create a profit margin off of what we exist off of

Please listen to your constituents and do not privatize Milwaukee's water. Water is a human right and should not be owned/ran/leased for 100 years to a corporation that doesn't answer to the public.

This is one of the most important issues Milwaukee has at hand currently, in my opinion. Keeping the water in Milwaukee is the safest and wisest decision for the short and long term. Milwaukee's water is too important to sell or let go of. There is no amount of money that would change my mind about this.

Haven't you heard? Water is the new OIL!!! -Why would you sign over the rights to our most precious resource? It makes NO SENSE, it is unethical, and it is foolhardy. I STRONGLY OPPOSE the privatization of Milwaukee Public Water Works and I sincerely hope that you will too.

I am deeply concerned that our city representatives would even consider a move to sell our water (lease for 99 years) to a multinational foreign corporation. Our water is our life blood and must at all costs remain in the hands of the citizenship in perpetuity. Please do not under any circumstance sell or lease our most vital resource, our water.

The city of Milwaukee's greatest resource is its water. If we sell it to the highest bidder we will be compromising the very foundation of what makes our city great. KEEP OUR PUBLIC WATERS!

Passing off control of our water resource is merely a short term fix that we'll regret for many years to come.

Milwaukee has already spent hundreds of millions of dollars of taxpayer money to build one of the best water systems in the world. Why turn that taxpayer investment over to private interests so they can profit from it?

I refuse to trust a corporation with water. I will have no say in how our water system is operated and the goal will be profits not the well being of our planet or people. KPOW!

there are too many who would use this privatizing unethically. The day we put our water up for sale, is the beginning of the end of one of our more important unalienable rights.
