Zaruhi Petrosyan, a 20 year old wife and mother, was tortured and murdered by her husband and his mother. By signing this petition you are urging officials to prosecute Yanis Sarkisov and his mother for the murder of this young woman.

October 1, 2010 marked the day when Zaruhi Petrosyan, a twenty year old mother, died at the hands of her husband, his mother, and other potential parties. She suffered from cranial brain hemorrhaging, broken bones, and other injuries. Zaruhi's sister reports that Zaruhi suffered from continuous abuse since her marriage in 2008.

After hearing of this tragic murder, we are writing to urge you in prosecuting the responsible parties. Many of us are disturbed and infuriated by this murder. We are outraged.  Yanis Sarkisov, his mother, and any others must be brought to justice for killing a member of the community. Zaruhi was a mother who has left behind a baby who will never know her. She was a sister and a wife. Armenia must not look past such an unjust murder. We owe our lives to the women who have become mothers for us, who have raised us, and who have sacrificed for us. We have fought for years to receive recognition for the Genocide that took the lives of so many yet we hear of a case such as this one where one Armenian is murdering another Armenian. Will you allow such barbaric actions to continue in your country? We are writing to insist that you do not allow this repulsive behavior to continue.

We urge you to investigate this matter to the fullest extent. While it is too late to save Zaruhi from her untimely death, it is not too late to hold the murderers responsible. It is not too late to pass a domestic violence law to ensure that these barbaric acts do not continue. We must not forget Zaruhi's death. We must not let her death be in vain. It is up to you to ensure that innocent lives are no longer lost.

With Respect,
The Undersigned
