The brutality and human rights violations inflicted by the Syrian regime on the Syrian people have become unacceptable on any level. According to Human Rights Watch, Syria's security forces have killed some 1400 people and detained at least a several thousand since March 16.
Amjad Baiazy, a 30-year old Syrian citizen living in the UK was arrested at Damascus International Airport on the morning of May 12, 2011 as he was returning to the UK. He is a civil activist who has worked with MSF and has spent many years participating in exchanges to build bridges of understanding between youth in Syria, the Middle East, and Europe.
We demand the release of Amjad Baiazy and the thousands of innocent Syrian citizens who decided to bravely stand up to their cruel regime and demand freedom and democracy. We also ask the international community to put pressure on the Syrian regime to do so.
