Please Help Save The Mule Deer of Helena Montana!!

Helena, Montana lies at the base of the mountains.  We have been so lucky to be able to view wildlife around us.  However, there have been many individuals who are complaining that the deer are eating their trees and bushes and they said that if left unattended that the deer population would soar.  So the city council came up with the idea of using sharp shooters to kill 330 resident deer in Helena.  This includes the bucks, does and fawns that are gentle & shy animals that have never meant us any harm.  We have encroached into their terriotory and because they are in our way, they feel the only option is to kill them!

The proposed plan is to bait different areas around Helena, to entice the deer to eat and then come evening, they will have "Sharp Shooters" armed with rifles come and kill the deer at those sites.  I think this is so unfair!!

They could use those same "Sharp Shooters" to administer a vaccine called "Spayvac" which will sterilize the doe and has been proven effective and far more humane!  Once shot into a Doe, a single dose will last several years, making it practical and economical.  It would lessen the population and we would not be subjected to the horrors of deer being slaughtered before our eyes! 

Also there was just a banquet held within the city, stating that something must be done to help the dwindling mule deer population.  The mule deer are the exact ones that they are going to be killing!!  Couldn't they simply use the sharp shooters to dart the deer and relocate them to the areas where the deer are disappearing?

I'm asking any of you to please sign this petition, if you feel it is unfair for the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks to bait areas around town with food to lure the deer in and then kill them while they are eating.  Please let them know how you feel about it and if you have any other humane suggestions for them!

We the undersigned,
Ask that you overturn your ruling to use Sharp Shooters and baiting, to kill the resident deer of Helena, Montana.  There are other options that could be used.  Ones that are more humane. 

Helena is such a beautiful place and many people who have visited our city, have commented on the deer and how wonderful it is to be able to view the wildlife.

Please consider the Spayvac vaccine that was suggested a few months ago, or even darting the deer and relocating them to the areas that the mule deer have disappeared.  It does not make sense to have a banquet detailing the fact that the mule deer are disapperaing and then in the next breath posting an article that you will be baiting areas with food to draw the mule deer in and shooting them as they feed in the evening.

Please, please spare the horror of killing hundreds of our trusting deer and consider a more humane way to deal with the over population in our city.
