Rainsville, AL Rescuer - Help Carrol Save Her Dogs

Target:
City Attorney, Jason L. Carrol; Judge Rains in Ft. Payne, AL; Rainsville Police Chief Robert Byrd
Carrol is in dire need of help with her animals.  She lives in a rural farming community on 5 acres of her grandparents home place.  Carrol has dedicated the last 10yrs. of her life rescuing neglected, abused homeless cats and dogs.  She lives on a meager Eastern Airlines retirement and Social Security Disability.

The mayor and city now want her shelter abolished despite the fact that there is no ordinance as to how many pets a person can have and there is no leash law.  The city has taken her to court and won.  The judge has ruled that she can have no more than 3 pets.

Please visit here to find more details of Carrol's story.  It is heart touching and anyone who loves animals can not help but be moved to action.

http://www.humanesocietysil.org/rainsvillerescue/

We are asking that the city officials at least give Carol the time needed to place the remaining 78 animals, out of 100, so that they will be safe and not destroyed.

We the undersigned are writing on behalf of Carrol Crocker and the remaining 78 animals in her care.  Rescue groups nationwide are working in a coordinated effort to transfer these homes to other rescue groups who will care for them and find them a permanent loving home.

We ask that you will give these rescue groups time to complete this task.  We feel that it is the least you can do for Carrol who has lost her home to a fire, and who now is losing the animals she has loved and cared for as her own family all these years.

These are more than animals - they are MEMBERS OF HER FAMILY. 5 acres is plenty, but that aside, if you have TOO MANY CHILDREN AND ARE OVER THE LIMIT YOU'D NEED SOME TIME TO FIND HOMES FOR THEM!!! THE VERY LEAST YOU CAN DO IS GIVE HER TIME. They are taken care of - what more do you want! YOU ARE BEING WATCHED BY A GREAT MANY AND WILL BE CALLED TO TASK!

We need more self-less people in the world like this woman. Why can they not let her do her God given mission, and instead help the abused women and children of their area. Fight for victims rights the law needs to be working to protect people form harm, and not to harm those who are helping do some good. Ft. Patne Al. step up and have your police take care of those creating crimes, and hurting people. Have them leave this women who is NOT doing any harm alone. These are your tax payer dollars they are spending, choose how and what they should spend them on.

The Mayor and the courts have to be aware of one major point here. If there were no more Carol's who I am sure pays for everything out of her own pocket because of no funding what happens to all of the animals that she has taken in? They would be put down!! This is not the animals fault that there are irresponsible pet owners that do not know how to spay or neuter their pet and then let the pet roam. Something has to give and it sure should not be the person that wants to take care of the animals. WAKE UP PEOPLE! Or should I say Mayor and the courts! How about you take some of your money and build a shelter for everything that this women has done. After all she is the one that has dedicated the last 10 years of her life to help them. What have you done to help her besides cause her grief and aggravation.

It is hard to believe that these government officials and judges could possibly think the way they do. The woman is saving animals lives and taking care of them!! What is happening is horrific. Let her continue on with the terrific thing she is doing!

She is saving animals and they are getting good homes. The government is stupid and must want to keep the animals homeless. She is helping the government by taking in the homeless animals. She is a great person for doing that for the animals!

I volunteer as much as I am able to help animals get homes at our local shelter. If there is no law stating this person can not have over a certain amount of animals, then I believe that she should be given time to find homes for these animals. What good is shooting them going to do?

Why can't you and your surrounding community cooperate together to help this woman continue to care for the animals at her farm? Where is your compassion for all living animals? Five rural acres is certainly enough space for her to devote her money and energy for a real shelter. And I am certain that young people in your community would volunteer their time to assist her. Have a heart and support this woman's endeavors.

Why is this issue important to you? Some one has to help these poor animals. It is not right that these animals are going to be destroyed. Please help Carol enough time and help to properly place these lovely animals. Please help Carol to care and part with these animals in as humanly way as possible. Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society's punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way." ~ Martin Luther King, Jr. Sincerley, Marlene Nowotarski

I feel that if somebody is rescuing dogs that it is a heroic act. As long as the dogs are being cared for nobody has the right to take them away from this lady.

To the City Council and residents. Instead of condemning a person who is actually doing something good in your community -- why not lobby and work to HELP her build a no-kill shelter and then lobby and work to raise funds for her to continue this important work? Step up and DO something in appreciation of our animal friends and those who work on their behalf -- instead of taking an action that does not even seem legal since there there was no ordinance in place... And, if you cannot have heart enough to do that -- get busy and at least help her find safe and loving homes for the animals rather than just sitting in judgement.

Government has no right to impose a number of animals that a person can possess, after the fact. The ordinance should have been officially set in place before initiating their legal right to force her to adhere to a non-existant ordinance. These animals are not causing a threat nor health hazard to anyone. The government is violating her right to privacy. There are numerous agencies such as the ASPCA, private shelters, private individuals who are willing to help. I am! PLEASE DO NOT EXECUTE INNOCENT ANIMALS. GIVE THE CARING, HUMAN RACE A CHANCE TO HELP! To Signer #2,061 - SHUT UP AND KEEP YOUR OPINION OUT OF THIS PETITION.

To all who may read this. It is a troubled time that we live in when life itself can be so arrogantly squandered. I simply ask that you do not carry out the order of execution on these animals. They have committed no crime. I am sure that you have heard or read this quote before. I think that it is important that you read it again and understand that this not an abstract concept, it can and does directly apply to the decisions you have made and the action you intend to take. "One can measure the greatness and the moral progress of a nation by looking at how it treats its animals." - Mahatma Gandhi Please remember the point of no return has not been reached. You can change your course and during this holiday season show compassion. Happy Holidays. Simon Matthews

No good reason exists why she cannot keep the remaining dogs until homes are found -- she is obviously making huge efforts to do so with the assistance of several prominent animal rescue groups. Destroying the dogs would be pointless and cruel.

Carrol needs help to find most of the animals new homes. No matter she means well, she's not capable of taking care of 100 animals, it she's the only person working at the shelter.
