Implement a compulsory desexing policy at Hawkesbury Pound

Hawkesbury pound currently have NO compulsory desexing policy in place. In Australia, over a quarter of a million rehomable, healthy animals are euthanised yearly.  Hawkesbury pound have 2 scheduled 'kill' days a week, and have often implemented more to account for the increase in numbers at the facility.

The public can currently buy an entire animal from this facility for as little as $36.50! This makes it a very attractive prospect to puppy farmers and backyard breeders.

We are asking that Hawkesbury pound follow the lead of other reputable shelters and implement a compulsory desexing policy to help reduce the number of animals that end up in this, and other shelters, or end up losing their lives.
We the undersigned,

are asking that you make it mandatory in Hawkesbury Animal Shelter to have all animals that are sold to the public spayed,or neutered.

The overcrowding, and killing of thousands of loving animals a day, that were once pets is increasing, and distressing.  Adoptable Animals are being euthanized weekly, then put into plastic bags waiting to go to the landfill. In a country where a quarter of a million animals are euthanized each year, we find it unacceptable that a shelter such as yours has not already implemented mandatory desexing.

We understand that Hawkesbury Animal Shelter have taken large steps to try to get adoptable animals into rescue or adopted, however the numbers are too large on many weeks for rescuers to handle, and the root cause is not being addressed by the over-breeding and accidental mating in your area.  Having animals desexed before rehoming them would only be a step forward.
