Bourn Mansion at Empire Mine State Park - the Jewel of Western Nevada County, CA

SAVE THE HISTORIC EMPIRE MINE STATE PARK!

Target:
Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sam Aanestad, Dan Logue, Tom McClintock
We the undersigned are very concerned about the impact the possible closure of the Empire Mine State Park will have on our community and the State.

This facility is a prime factor in the economic, cultural, and social fabric of Western Nevada County.  In addition to its important historical value, the Empire Mine State Park generates a significant income for the State Park System.  The ripple effect from visitors to the park is a key factor in the tourism economy of Western Nevada County.  This extremely popular wedding venue alone is a highly valuable source of tourism dollars for both the park and the local economy, attracting many visitors who would have no other reason to visit Western Nevada County were the park to close.

Keep the Empire Mine Historic State Park open!  Tne economic health of Nevada County will be negatively affected by its closure and the citizens of our community and California will lose a beautiful historic jewel!

The Empire Mine is a priceless treasure in our community. By closing it and halting maintenance, the park's historic splendor and condition can never be restored. I grew up visiting this park, and I have made wonderful memories and learned much about California's mining history. Please don't close our state parks. They are irreplaceable.

This mine is a state treasure. California and the nation benefitted from the riches extracted from its depths. The exhibit should remain available for visitors to see and appreciate.

We are a consume and toss society. Preservation of the beautiful and historic will help our future generations cherish what is and hand it down instead of making it disappear into the garbage heap of oblivion.
