I am trying to get cloves back on the market here in the US. As most of you know..'President' Obama put the FDA incharge of tobacco. So of course we must all suffer now..What happened to DEMOCRACY?! It's not the 8 year olds out there buying cigarettes. If its that much of an issue stop making the candy that looks like cigarettes!!! Not the cigarettes that 'taste like candy'. The whole world needs to realize that yes some kids are going to try smoking...but its up to thier PARENTS to educate them about the decision. So please everyone help me fight! I chose to smoke cloves now let me do it!

FDA: We the undersigned believe it was unfair and unjust of you to put a ban on flavored cigarettes. Maybe if tobacco companies would stop advertising where kids are...(posters at child eye level, cartoons, tv, ect.) the adults that chose to smoke flavored cigarettes wouldn't have to suffer now. So please lift the ban on flavored cigarettes. I understand you are trying to stop young people from smoking, but there have been studies showing that less then 2% of high school students smoke cloves. When I was at school most of them smoked the popular brands like Marbolo. Those are the ones that should be focused at, not the brands that no one has ever heard of. Thank you for your time! And please lift the ban, even if there must be an age requirement for flavored cigarettes, it would be better then nothing.
We signed the "Lift the ban on flavored cigarettes" petition!

DOESN'T THE SMOKING LAW IN THE COUNTRY CLEARLY STATE THAT THE LEGAL AGE TO PURCHASE TOBACCO PRODUCTS IS 18?!?!?! In other words - CHILDREN SHOULDN'T BE SMOKING CIGARETTES IN THE FIRST PLACE, FLAVORED OR NOT! So I see, it's "blame the flavored cigarettes", not what it should be: "blame the asshole store owners selling cigarettes to minors." It's "blame the flavored cigarettes", not "blame the parents for not actually being parents, and making sure their under-age children aren't smoking." This logic sounds very similar to "don't blame the serial killer for his actions, blame the violence he watched on TV or played in video games!"
If the Government is allowed to tell us what we can and can't smoke, where do we draw the line on which Freedoms they take away from us? How long before all cigarettes are banned? Will we see another Alcohol prohibition soon after that? Hey Mr. President, there are all sorts of yummy flavored liquors out there that are possibly enticing underage drinking, why don't you take all the "good tasting" alcohol off the shelves while your at it too! Then we can light a fire, burn some books...
It amazes me how the Democrats always tote the phrase "My Body, My Choice" when it comes to women's reproductive health, and the right to a safe and legal abortion, yet they seem to be at odds with that very same phrase in this particular scenario. Well Mr. President, if I want to smoke a clove cigarette every now and then, it's "MY BODY, MY CHOICE!"

This law definitely infringes upon my right as an American citizen to pursue what I define as happiness: choosing to smoke a kretek clove cigarette. While I deeply resent the government's intrusion into my personal life with the passage of S. 982, I'm also concerned about the implications for other legislation. If Congress and the President can make a decision to prohibit my access to something they have decided isn't in my best interest, what's to prevent the same thing from occuring in the health care reform process.

What ever happened to the freedom to do what I want with my body? If I, a 27-year old woman, want to smoke cloves, that's my choice and I should have the right to do so. Moreover, if children who aren't old enough to buy cigarettes are doing so, shouldn't their parents be responsible for teaching their kids not to smoke? (And shouldn't store owners not be selling to these kids?) The government is not supposed to be my parent -- I already have two people in that role, thank you very much.

I cannot believe my forefathers died to preserve the freedoms we have here in America., only to have them ripped away by card carrying Socialist(Facist more like it!)> I don't eat meat of any kind but I don't expect to infringe on anyone elses right to do so. The number one killer in this country is heart disease, yet there seems to be a McDonalds on every corner. Why hasn't the ACLU stepped in one this. Is this not discrimination in every sense?

Why punish the people purchasing cloves legally because someone is scared that underagers will buy them? This makes no sense! When I started smoking, my first cigarette was a MENTHOL!! Not a clove! Lift this ban, allow the grownups to make their own decisions!
Heh, first a cigarette ban, who knows what's next?

since the ban took effect on Sept. 22 in Va I have hoarded the remaining cloves I had. I am about to step out and enjoy the last one. I found this site looking for a place to buy them online. I would hate to be forced into the criminal activity of finding a banned substance at the age of 28 (I don't do any illicit drugs) WTF

The conspicuous exemption of menthols from the FLAVORED CIGARETTE ban makes me want to scream. I wonder how many children would spend $7+ on a pack of cloves when menthols are so much cheaper? NOTE: Buying cloves online from companies based in Indonesia is NOT illegal. So buy them now; go go go!

Seriously, this is ridiculous. I don't smoke, but this is a form of prohibition. Prohibition didn't work in the 1920s and it won't work today.

This isn't freedom, it is taking away a freedom. as an adult, i rarely smoke, but cloves are a treat that i started when i was 21, NOT 17. I want my right back.

Most teenage smokers buy what is cheap and cloves are not cheap! I am a 37 year old who does not smoke daily, but has one clove cigarrette each week. I cherish my rights as a citizen and my rights to choose, and I am appalled at this ban supposesdly to keep teens from smoking. Are we going to ban wine coolers next, since they taste good and might be attractive to teens. Wine coolers happen to be my other legal choice to make as an adult. Kids who want to smoke are going to smoke whatever is out there, and it is naieve to believe that this ban will affect this more than campaigns in schools which cover all smoking hazards. I want my right back as an adult not to be told which flavor or lack of flavor I can have in my ciggarettes.

obama is honestly dumb. he so biased. if your going to ban blacks why not ban menthols as well that will get a few kids stop smoking because menthol taste like mint. and mint is candy flavor. you don't eat freaking cloves. ..

I have been smoking blacks for years. I am a spiritual woman who smokes the blacks as part of daily prayer ritual. If we as the American people allow the government to take this away, before we know it, it will be 1984 as George Orwell wrote. It is my right to smoke at my discretion. I also have two sons who are very aware of the dangers of smoking and what it may do to your system. I pray to the god and goddess that the people will awaken and remember that we the people are the true government. Ase'

If there was to be a ban, then it should be at the state's discretion, not by the federal government. Also, the reasoning behind it is bogus. Who cares if people between the ages of 18-25 are more likely to smoke, it is there right just like it is everyones right to have a drink of alcohol. I bet no one on capitol hill is let there precious 20yr scotch be banned. Like most who smoke clove, I smoke here and there as a treat, like after a nice meal. Also, young people dont start smoking clove, because it is too harsh for them anyway, its like smoking a cigar, so shy would you ban something that most people dont smoke (or havent heard of) and also who dont smoke it regularly.

The FDA has no business dictating what people smoke. I find it ironic that the ban is only for cloves, candy flaovored tobacco. Why not menthols? Oh, I forgot those are domestic and have more tar and nicotine. I asked a couple of my kids friends what brand of cigarette that they prefer and low and behold it was MARLBORO. They don't even like the way the clove cigarettes smell, let alone smoke one. So, where is the FDA actually getting their statistics?
