Rabbits are Pets not Dinner
I saw the most horrifing site while shopping at Market Basket on Bridge St, Lowell, Ma yesterday !! There in the freezer aisle was frozen rabbit . I picked it up to get a closer look at the writing because I couldn't believe my eyes. Yes, there it was my poor rabbit's brother or sister all skinned , beheaded and frozen . I was so sick to my stomach I just left my carriage there and headed out the door.
We don't eat pets in the U.S, Correct? There is no cat, dog , gunea pig in the freezer aisle. I guess some Americans eat rabbits . Why ? Rabbits deserve more respect then to end up as "what's for dinner".
Please sign the petition to let Market Basket hear loud and clear that you don't want to see poor frozen Bugs Bunny in the freezer case.
We the undersigned ask you to withdraw rabbit meat from your stores.
Rabbits are domesticated pets not "what's for dinner".
Rabbits are the number 3rd pet in the United States right behind dogs and cats.
I would not expect to find dog or cat in your stores even though they are eaten in other countries. I was so upset to find them in your store I had to leave immediatley without buying anything and I will not go back to your store till those poor bunnies are pulled off your freezer .
