I am no professor, have not any degree, but this I know: this is not the right way to teach young kids, who have made a mistake in their lives, to be rightiousness humans again, to have respect for others... Right now, these kids are treatenened with the biggest disrespect adults can show. How can you expect something good back, when you only are putting some evil inside these young kids?! Give the kids something to do: work in shelters, taking care in an "Eldery Home", let them take care of disable people who are desperate in need to go outside in their wheel-chair. Teach them compassion and to be respectful to their fellow humans. |

"WHAT IF ONE OF THESE CHILDREN WERE YOURS"? There is something DEFINITELY wrong with our society when this happens! |

Airin Mitchell Wesley, Indiana
My name's Airn Mitchell Wesley. And I am petiting because I am an ex juvenile from both Kearney Mesa and East Mesa Juvenile hall. My probation number is as followes: (50008571). I was incarcerated for almost 5 years! And during that time, the doctors gave me so many medications! Like Depecote, Abilify, Seraqual, Zoloft, & many more! And you know what? None of them worked. The highest dosage that they ever put me on was almost 2,000 Millagrams! Can you believe that? But, it did not have any effect on me what so ever. To prove that giving drugs to juveniles cant help change them, I controled my behavor during certin times. Untill I noticed that the drugs started to harm me internaly. That's when I started to sign the refusal form for my medications. And you know what? As soon as I stopped taking them, I felt so much better. The Psyciatrast could not figure out how I got better without the medication. So, he asked for an interview. And I aggred. I told him that it does not matter how much medications you give to a person, as long as that person does not want to change his or her behavior, then no amount of medication can ever change that. Only when he or she is ready to change can he or she get better and move on to bigger and better things in life. And most of the times when anyone ever talked back to me or jumped me, I chose to never fight back because I chose to take the puches in hope that I would prove the system wrong. My goal was to prove that I can endure the pain, the agany, the fear, the beatings, the peper spray, even the punisments. So, I tryed everything in the book. I went from the goodest one in there to the juvenile that was always on Administrative Segragation and Unit Confinment or (AS, UC). I have been on AS about 3 times. AS is when you are confinded to your cell all day and night. You only come out for your shower on the pm, your program, your rec, and if you have a visit during visiting hours. And anytime your let out of your cell while on AS, your are in full restraints. Meaning that you have shackles on your feet, a chain around your waist, and handcuffs on your wrists. Even when you go to take a shower. They ask you to take off all of your clothes and they throw in a small white towll in your cell for you to wrap around your waist. Then, when it's time, they ask you to come to your flap and put your back towards the flap. Then they unlock it and cuff your hands. Then they tell you to stay seated. Then once they open the door, they pin you to the wall and shakle you up with full restriants. Then escort you to the shower stall. Then they ask you which hand do you use to write with. And unlock that one hand only. It's up to you to figure out how to undo your towll and shower in 3 minutes with full restraints, and not to metion putting your towl back on before you go back to your cell. It's a hard and crul life in there. I would not want my children if and when I do have some to ever end up there. And if they do, I would either visit them whenever the staff let me, or I would somehow get a job there or even become a director just to make sure my children are safe and secure from harm or danger. And when it comes down to you are the probaton offercers, you better believe that some or most of them would not put there lifes on the line for you at all. I have seen a juvenile hit a officer and the officer just started to punch the juvenile repetdly. That juvenile is currently serving time in The California Youth Authority or commonly known as CYA. There are some great teachers and TA's there though! A few of them would give there life for these students in a heartbeat! I know because I have met a few teachers and teachers assistents that go above and beond the rules of the system. Just to make life better for these kids. Even if it means risking their own carrerrs or jobs in the process. But on another note, I have an extensive knowledge of both juvenile centers. I have been in the system for almost my whole teenage life. 5 years! So, if anyone has any questions about what "EXCATLY HAPPENS BEHIND LOCKED DOORS" just contact my via email. indy18arn@gmail.com Because justice must be served! |
