Save the last forests of Malaita Island

The government of the day as planned as a priority the conversion of around 9000 hectares of Tropical rain-forest into oil palms.

This petition is to prevent the planned oil palm project that will convert rich diverse forests of Malaita into dead uniform rows of palm trees.

Let us save the last remaining forests of our island and conserve the rich biodiversity contained within.

We are the concerned citizens of Malaita, Solomon Islands, the South Pacific and the World.

We wish that the planned Oil palm projects on Malaita be halted as we believe the government is not making the right choice for its people. The unique and rich natural and cultural heritage that the forests hold could be lost forever, this is surely an action that our future generations will regret.

So let us not curse our children by stealing there inheritance and confining there futures to hard labour.

We thank you for your time and consideration.
