The Many Views of Yankee Stadium!

SAVE THE ORIGINAL 1923 YANKEE STADIUM

Target:
George, Hank, and Hal Steinbrenner
The Old Yankee Stadium is a legendary stadium. It began in 1923 when the Yankees were beggining to outgrow the Polo Grounds, where all of the sports teams in New York Played. George M. Steinbrenner III bought the team in 1973 and had the original Stadium re-done. Now due to the new stadium opening, the Old Stadium is to be demolished for park land. How can they do this without knowing the value of this stadium. It should be conserved and put on the National Register of Historic Places. So help us out and show you're Baseball Pride. If you are a fan of another team it is only a matter of time until you're stadium is gone!

We the Undersigned, do not agree with Yankee Stadium being demolished because it is a landmark that is needed to be preserved. You men are not letting that happen. So please consider this. Consider the fans that the Yankees have had for the years they have been active.

To not save at least part of the stadium to me would be a travesty to history. Do the leaders of NYC have no sense of history at all? Once gone, it will be gone for good. And baseball, and for that matter America, will have lost its most storied ball park. What other stadium will ever be host to 39 World Series, 3 NFL title games, and several boxing championships again? None! As nice as the new stadium may be, it WILL NEVER be host to the kind of history that took place at this great stadium. To not leave at least some physical part of the stadium to remain is just plain idiotic. If the city can't at least save Gate 2, then please don't even bother with a stupid plaque, as such a marker would only minimize the historical significance of the old stadium in the eyes of future residents and therefore would only add insult to injury.

Historical places that bring such wonderful mempries to others need to be preserved. Possibly use it is a Yankee Baseball Museum. Preserve the history of the team.
