Save the Salmon and the Southern Resident Orcas!

I don't care if you agree with the concept of Whale Watching or not but I am asking everyone to make comments to NOAA about their proposed regulations and sign this petition to Save the Salmon and the Southern Resident Orcas.

I do the job (Marine Naturalist) I do for my love of these amazing mammals known as Orcas. Every day I see the joy on people's face as they see an Orca in the wild and how much they are touched. Many of these people comment how watching these Orcas will make them change their life style to be more eco-friendly.

NOAA's proposed regulations will do nothing to get the SRKW's off the endangered species list and in fact will affect one of the groups out there every day that is educating and making the public passionate about these sacred Whales. We already have regulations and laws in place, but no enforcement so we do not need more regulations.

The Pacific Whale Watching Association is asking NOAA to keep the regulations that exist, expand them into law and strictly enforce them. The PWWA is also asking for better public education, especially boaters, and that the biggest issue facing the Orcas, a lack of Salmon, is tackled.

So please, I ask you all that if you care for Orcas in the wild you will take time to make comments on this site and demand that NOAA enforces the current regulations and improves the Salmon Stocks in the Salish Sea.

The proposals by NOAA will ban kayakers from watching Orcas within a 1/2 mile of San Juan Island but continue to allow the Seiners to take 6 million Salmon out of the water right off the Coast of San Juan Island!

Please sign the petition now. Together we can save the Salmon and the Southern Resident Killer Whales.

There are no creatures on earth I care more for than our magnificent southern Orca pods. I so wish we would all realize how precious and important they all are and how badly they need our protection and care. Their main food source the Chinook Salmon must be restored to their once healthy numbers and by doing this we will ensure that our treasured gifts the southern resident families will be with us forever.

We should be doing everything we can to help protect the Orcas and the besst way to help is to preserve their food. I unfortunatly never got to see the orca when i was in Canada and therefore they are the main reason why ill be coming back and therefore increase tourism and spend my money. PLease help these orcas future and in turn the future of Canadian tourism

Watching these animals make people realize how small this world is and how much we have to share. Watching these orca's is a great way to be more aware of our waste and becoming more eco friendly. And the tourists make memories for life!

Part of my job over the past twelve years has been to bring thousands of overseas visitors to see the Orcas in their natural surroundings and each and every time it has always proven to be the highlight of peoples holidays.
