BLOOD DOLPHINS

The 2010 Oscar Winning movie "The Cove" has brought world attention to the tiny fishing village of Taiji, Japan and the annual dolphin slaughter.  Despite world condemnation, the Japanese government has continued to issue permits to kill the dolphins, and continues to hunt whales even though dolphin and whale meat is not fit for human consumption as it contains toxic levels of mercury.
The Japanese government has kept a tight lid on the media, and most Japanese people do not even know what is going on at the cove in Taiji.  It is time they found out!
The people of Japan are not responsible for the huge profits a handful of their citizens are making on the sale of dolphins into the captivity trade, sometimes over $100,000 for a captive dolphin, but unless we get the word to them somehow, there might not be any dolphins left to save.
When the Allies liberated the concentration camps in WWII, the German people said they didn't know what was going on in the camps where the "final solution" was being executed.  The Japanese people may not know what is going on in their waters, but they need to know.  If Japan will not allow the media to be free, than we are forced to send them the message that something is wrong with the only means left to us; we need to boycott their goods, and get Toyota and the other corporate leaders of Japan to step up and exert their powers to change the laws of their country.
Only the people of Japan can determine the fate of the dolphins that swim along their coasts, but we, the people of the world, can give them an incentive to make the right decision.  Please sign the petition below, repost to your Facebook and email your friends.  Tell Toyota that we will not purchase their cars until Japan adopts a Marine Mammal Protection Act and joins the community of nations who want to protect our whales and dolphins for future generations.
We the undersigned are not going to purchase cars made by Toyota until the government of Japan ceases the killing of dolphins and whales in Japanese waters and elsewhere around the world.
As a corporate leader in your country, we feel it falls to you to influence your country to make the right and wise decision to retain its position in the civilized society of nations who all support protection of our oceans' marine mammals.
The United States consumer has been a great friend to Japan, and wants to maintain this relationship of mutual benefit for all our citizens, however, we can not do so as long as it threatens the health and welfare of our world's oceans.
Citizens of other countries feel the same way. Please scroll down to the list below to see how many different countries are represented by these signatures.
Thank you for making a wise decision for the future of all our children and the future of our oceans.
