Stop the Keystone Pipeline and Alberta Tar Sands

Both the Keystone Pipeline and the Alberta Tar Sands have caused irreversible damage to the environment. There has been mass public protest against the tar sands because it is visibly damaging to the environment.
The greenhouse gas emissions are higher than ever in Alberta because of the extensive processing done at the tar sands. Not only are the tar sands contributing to climate change, but also damaging sensitive areas with resources like water and forests. Wildlife is struggling to survive, water is being used in huge amounts and contaminated, forests are being destroyed, and viable farm land is being destroyed for short term benefits.  The oil sands and the pipeline have economic worth now, but the consequences and risks they pose are not worth the short term outcomes.
Any further extraction of crude oil or extension of pipelines should be put to an end. We should be easing off our dependence on oil and focusing on long term research and enforcement of cleaner energy. Both of these projects hold more problems than benefits.
We the undersigned, have a fundamental problem with the Alberta Tar Sands and the Keystone Pipeline. They have proven to have economic worth with little value for environmental integrity. As a Canadian corporation, we respect for the promotion of Canadian resources, but the Alberta Tar Sands and the Keystone Pipeline are flawed in their long term consequences for the environment and people's health. Please take this petition as a call to stop harming the environment and consider alternative energy sources and easing away from dependence on crude bitumen.
