Stop the Senate from denying extended unemployment

Target:
PASS EXTENDED UNEMPLOYMENT BILL NOW

COME ON ALREADY SENATE STOP STALLING PEOPLE ARE HURTING!!GOING HUNGRY,COLD,LOSING THEIR HOME

On October 9, 2009, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) brought the proposed bill H.R. 3548 to give federal unemployment benefit extensions to all 50 states because he recognizes the urgent needs of the people.  However, that same day Republican Senator Jon Kyl from Arizona stalled his efforts for speedy passage by asking for more time to consider the bill that would help keep a roof over many Americans heads and keep food on their tables.

The bill was scheduled to return to the senate for additional review and vote on October 13, 2009.  Most people thought that it would pass without further delay because of the overwhelming need. During the September 22, 2009, House vote on the bill Congressman Levin Sander (D-MI-12) stated that 15 million Americans are now unemployed the highest number since 1939.  Well, after hearing that we were all convinced that our great country knew and understood our plight but more importantly that they would not allow us to suffer, not in America.  After all, we are the richest country in the world.

To our great surprise, once again the Republicans made it their business to show their true colors.  They stopped the accelerated passage of the bill again! This unjust action is proof positive that the GOP is determined to destroy American workers.  Failing businesses take priority over the well-being of the people. Republicans rooted for our President to fail, rooted against the Olympics in America, and even snarled at the fact that President Obama won the Nobel Peace prize. No greater honor has been bestowed on a sitting President of the United States of America since Woodrow Wilson in 1919 and they do not respect or appreciate that fact.

If the proposed extended unemployment bill is not passed within the next week thousands of Americans and soon to be, millions will fall below the poverty level in this country.  Homelessness will reach astronomical proportions and hunger will surly rise.  The result is an extreme burden on an already strained system.  Tent cities will become the norm and emergency services will collapse from the ever growing need of the homeless.   America is better than this.  Are we going to just stand by and watch America fail? This is a call for immediate action.  It is time to speak up and speak out for all Americans.  It is imperative that we stay informed and take action http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h111-3548  to ensure passage of this bill.

By signing this petition, you ask the Senate to pass the unemployment extension bill immediately and without further delay, as millions of Americans are falling into the depths of poverty with each passing day.

The people must stand up to the U.S. Senate and demand passage of proposed bill H.R. 3548 to extend unemployment benefits now.

My name is Tiffany Field. I am an unemployment U.S. Citizen, and I think that the government should pass this bill. There are many people out of work right now, and if something is not done soon to help the unemployed then this country is going to have more homelessness, and problems of that sort. I have a family and I need to keep a roof over there heads, and food in there bellies. Thank you

Please do something about the extension. I had enough money to pay this month's rent and bill's. I am 66 and SS doesn't cover most of my cost. I am alone and have no one to help me. I am putting in so many resume's, and no one is getting back to me. Please pass the bill for the third tier extension. Thank you

Out of the last 8 years I have been working for my past employer, I have been laid off more than 3 years. In the last two years in the same company I have gone through two plant closings. I am know going back to college at age 56. Since their are no longer any industries in this area with the present skills I have. I have been on layoff since October 2008. Without the subsidy I am getting from unemployment, I will have to quit college and possibly get 2 minimum wage (probably part-time as well) jobs. I would like to go forward in my life, instead of backwards. If there is just one week that I will not receive unemployment, I will have to either file bankruptcy, or lose my home and car. Cannot sell my home, since it value does not exceed what I owe. I live in a rural area, 30 minutes from any gainful employment. Please do not let another American family waste away into oblivion.

This is a simple thing to pass, must easier than Billions of Dollars in bailouts. It shows the everyday person just where these senators loyalties lie, right in there pockets. The unemployed don't have anything to pay these greedy scum.

The financial world looted the public treasury, impoverishing current and future generations, and the money they took has been withdrawn from the real economy precisely when it is needed most. It is sickening to see the effect on the general public. We are loosing jobs, houses, public services, and our dignity as human beings on a massive scale, while the financial and political sectors roll merrily along. America is beginning to resemble nothing so much as a bankrupt Latin American country, looted by its Dictators and forced on the tender mercies of the World Bank. You, senator, are personally responsible fort this tragic state of affairs, and if you have any decency left you will sign this bill.

To all Senators, please take up legislation to extend unemployment benefits, I am among many that will soon run out of unemployment benefits. I have put in thousands of resumes with not yet receiving a job offer. I am at risk of loosing my home, of not being able to feed my kids or even be able to keep them warm. This should be at the top of the list of the senate. Remember you guys work for the people and you are now doing nothing but hurting the people. Pass this legislation now and live up to your responsibilities to the people. The people are watching and will remember come election time. Do the right thing senators.

There are no jobs. What do they expect people to do? Some of the jobless have worked all their lives and paid into the system. If we can feed the hungry all over the globe, why can't we find the funds to feed our own? If the ones responsible for delaying this knew what fear was, or ever had to panic over not knowing where their child's next meal was going to come from, I'm sure ther would be no delay. Feed your public first and bicker about it later. Many of the jobless never asked for this downturn; they were just victims of it. Most of them would die for a job if they could find one.

The reason that there are no ojobs is do to all of the businesses are making a fortune by outsourcing. From call centers to clothing to toys and the list goes on. We do not need any people anymore to do all of the work due to the fact that the businesses only have to pay a miniscul ammount for these workers. It is greed. this in turn makes there stocks rise and they all get rich. They do not even see the big picture. With no jobs we now are going to have the rich and the poor. Crime will be at a all time high. We will need more police due to people that are turning to desparate measures to feed there children. We will need even more money too jail all of these poor people. Pretty soon jail will start looking good to the alternative, no food of shelter. Our country is in big trouble. We need to seee the whole picture. Tax overseas trade and ouutlaw outsourcing call centers. It is destroying america. We are so broke that any other country can move in and take over. If you think I am wrong you are ignorant. We are in dire straights.

I have worked full-time in the medical field for 22 years. I am a single mother with no family (except my child) to help me or turn to. I have helped people my entire life & sacrificed for those in need. Now , when I need assistance the Republicans decide to delay signing this bill for over a month. How do they think WE are surviving??? Rent, food bills, car,gas.....they are comfy & warm & fed. I truly resent the fact that were sooooo quick to aid Wall St. Or a huge auto co. rather than help their OWN PEOPLE. If they stall much longer there will be alot of homeless people this cold winter. Have a heart .....the holidays are coming ....afterall we are all human beings. Thank u .
