STOP! Stop Using Stoning as Capital Punishment

What is Stoning?
Stoning is a cruel humiliation death penalty for those who commit---and in most cases---falsly accused of adultry, or premarital sex.

They will wrap the victim up in a cloth and bury them in the ground, so they will have no where to move. If the accused individual is a man, he will be buried up to his waist. If the accused indivdual is a woman, she will be buried up to her shoulders. When the victim is buried, men gather around in a circle with medium sized rocks. Yes, there is even a correct type of rock to initiate the exact formulation of inflicting pain on the victim without fully killing them. A few reports stated that it took about thirty minutes of throwing stones until the victim departed.

Where Does Stoning Occur?
Stoning is practiced in: Iran, Afgahnastan, Somalia, Indonesia (No reports have been filed in Indonesia), Nigeria, Saudi Arabia (Sudan), and Iraq.

Cases:
Somalia - In December 2009, an instance of stoning was publicised after Mohamed Abukar Ibrahim was accused of adultery by the Hizbul Islam militant group.

Somalia - In October 2008, Aisho Ibrahim Dhuhulow, was traveling to visit family when she gang raped by three men. Dhuhulow, reported the men who commited this atrocity to the militia in Somalia whom are responsible for punishing law breakers. The militia blamed Dhuhulow, for the crime and sentenced her to death by stoning.  Aisho Ibrahim Dhuhulow, begged for them to spare her life, but was buried up to her neck in a Somalian football stadium, then stoned to death in front of more than 1,000 people. Aisho Ibrahuim Dhuhulow was 13 years old, and the men who forced themselves on her were never even pursued by the militia, or the government.

Iraq - In April 2007, Du'a Khalil Aswad, a Yezidis fell in love with a Sunni boy; because of the vicious rivalary between the Sunnis and the Yezidis, Aswad and her love decided to run away, but Aswad's family noted the authorities about Aswad's runaway. When Aswad and her love were found, Aswad was accused of committing premarital sex. According to the Sunni's and the Yezidis's religious beliefs, stoning the punishment for premarital sex (and adultry). In order to cleanse the shame from the family name, Du'a Khalil Aswad was sentenced to death. Supposedly, Aswad was not to be stoned, but reports state that her uncle, brother, and father were all apart of the following event. Roughly eight men invading her family's home and grabbed Du'a Khalil Aswad onto the street, stripped her lower body bare, and started throwing stones at her, kicking her in between her legs, kicking her stomach, kicking her face, filming, and taking pictures until finally someone took a very large concrete rock and smahed her head. Du'a Khalil Aswad was only 17. They buried her in an unmarked grave. Specialist later dug her up to determine if she was really a virgin, or not. The results...she was an innocent girl who died an unjust death.

"An Amnesty International spokesman in London said they receive frequent reports of honour crimes from Iraq ? particularly in the predominantly Kurdish north.

Most victims are women and girls who are considered by male relatives to have shamed their families by immoral behaviour."

Nigeria - Many citizens have been sentenced to stoning, for more than just adultry, but also for homosexuality. No reports of the actual stoning ever taking place because of the pressure from Human Rights Activists.

This petition is to help supporty the: United Nations, Amensty International, and other activist help fight against this atrocity.

Personal Message (Jan. 24, 2011): I just wanted to say thank you to all of you who are signing this petition...wether you signed it, anonomously, or not I think you are all valiant angels. I didn't promote this as much as I should because of people's ignorance (and fear), but you all gave me more courage to start promoting this petition properly. Please keep spreading the word. Thank You from the bottom of my heart.

We the Undersigned,

Would like to thank you for all your time and patience, for acknowleding our concerns. We know that you have many critical issues to be dealth with, but the issue of Stoning as a Capital Punishment in the Middle East and some North African Countries has us very concerned.

There have been a number of cases where innocent victims are being stoned to death in a savagely manner. These victims are sometimes little girls (who are falsly accused), rape victims, and homosexuals. I understand that the United Nations and other Human Right Activists are most likely more knowledgable about the current events involving these atrocities, but this petition is to show our support and help fight against the injustice bestowed upon the innocent, and be humane on the guilty (even if they may have had good reason).

Thank you, again.
