By signing this petition, I voice my support for an amendment to the ordinance prohibiting the keeping of chickens within the city limits of Little Falls.  The amendment to the the ordinance allowing chickens within the city limits would include the following restrictions:
-The maximum number of chickens to be allowed would be four.
   -Hens only, NO ROOSTERS
-A minimum of three square feet per hen will need to be provided in an enclosed area a minimum of 50 feet from any adjacent living quarters.
-Hens must be contained at all times.

Signatures as follows,

   I                                                                      support this amendment.

We, the undersigned citizens of Little Falls feel that the keeping of chickens within city limits would be beneficial to our community.  We ask the City Council to consider the following benefits.
-Fresh, naturally raised eggs have improved nutritional value compaired to conventionally raised eggs.
-With the fluctuating prices of eggs, keeping chickens would stabilize the amount you pay per egg.
-You can provide a humane life for your hens.
   -Chickens eat bugs and ticks.
-Backyard hens can provide an educational opportunity to teach children where our food comes from.  It can also show them the hardwork and rewards pet ownership poses on them.
-Properly cleaned and cared for, a chickens coop poses no sanitation risks.  Chickens also produce less smell and noise than most dogs.

We urge the city council to seriously consider amending the ordinance prohibiting the keeping of chickens within the city limits.
