Take Leadership Now to End the War in Iraq

Take Leadership Now to End the War in Iraq

Target:
Sen. Hillary Clinton and Senator Barack Obama.

Senator Clinton and Senator Obama, you have both said that the time to begin ending the war in Iraq is now.  As sitting Senators, you have that power in your hands.   President Bush cannot spend a penny on the war without the approval of both houses of Congress.

When the Senate takes up the next war funding bill, we call on you to lead a filibuster, refusing to stand down until your colleagues agree to vote against any bill that continues to fund the war in Iraq rather than funding the swift and safe return of our troops

We kicked the Red Coats out and put it into our Constitution that you can't house troops in our houses. The people of Iraq feel the same way we did. People say it will be a disaster. It's already a disaster. It can only get better when we get out. Phil Woods

Please take time out from campaigning and exersise your seat in the S to work against more funding for th Iraq war. It is far out of control and we need the money to help our own people here at home.

This war has been illegal and unjust from the outset. The pretext has changed so many times over the years. I am NOT afraid of Muslim extremist terror campaigns. I have a far greater chance of dying in a car accident. It is a sham, and it is time to put a stop to it NOW. Americans are TIRED of being LIED to and intentionally misled. Our once proud country is now an embarrassment.

Just DO IT!!! Bring our people back home, then TAKE CARE of them when they get here!!! It's positively sickening that our government and military associations are so "well oiled" with our tax dollars that they can virtually FORGET the traumas that are caused by these USELESS wars, that only undermine our American people and their lives, and ignore our REAL needs. Oh yes, I forgot, we are the almighty UNITED STATES, and all other races and nations are to idolize us, and NO MATTER WHAT, we have to get involved with civil war unrest. Hogwash! We need to take care of our own first, THEN, think before we send our own people in to dangerous territory, that ALWAYS results in casualties. I'm a Mom, Grandmom, and a Great Grandmom, and I can't stand reading the headlines telling us of our latest casualties: men who are really just adult BOYS/and YOUNG women, who are usually the young ages of mid twenties, who haven't had the chance to find the women/men God meant them to spend their lives with, nor the chance to also marry and have beautiful children: our next generations. Instead, they are lying dead on the roadside, waiting to be brought home to their grieving parents, who can't understand the cruelty of this harsh reality. No future for their sons or daughters. No grand babies to hold and sing to. and, for that matter, no more time to sit and talk with or touch their grown child again, as we all are lucky enough to do often. War is NOT the answer to our universal problems! If it is, why are we teaching our young people to "USE THEIR WORDS", rather than their fists to settle disputes? It's contradictory and, at best, confusing for all of us. Let it go, and repair the wounded as we embrace them in homecoming celebrations!!!

The continuation of THIS WAR is NOT an option. If you truly ARE ready to take on the Presidency; if you truly ARE ready to be the Commander-in-Chief; if you truly are ready to LEAD this country BACK from the edge of HELL that this regime, with a strangle-hold around the throat of our constitution, has taken us then you MUST promise and work for a swift end to the war and a complete withdrawl of all combat troops from IRAQ. Not in 5 months, not a year, not 2 years.....NOW!

Please fund the orderly, swift & safe return of our loved ones who remain in harm's way. Lead a filibuster to stop the funding. You hold the power of the purse. Nothing is more important right now than you listening to the people & standing up for what the people are demanding. BRING THEM HOME NOW & TAKE CARE OF THEM WHEN THEY GET HERE.
# 908:

By any means necessary you must stop the funding that is killing our troops & hundreds of thousands of innocent people! There is no amount of money that can keep them safer while in battle. No amount of money can buy away the depleted uranium exposure & sickness, PTSD, bullets, sights, smells & sounds of death. You must stop the funding now, bring them home swiftly, orderly & safely. My son, an OIF combat medic, has been home for 3.5 years, disabled, active duty & lacking health & mental health care. WHY?!?! You cannot simultaneously fund the war & their care. It's absolutely impossible. By not listening to the voice of the people you are complicit in the continued killing of innocent people. Do what ever it takes to stand up & stop the funding! Peace, Vrnda Noel MFSO Colorado

Senator Obama and Clinton, You must vote no to any addtional funding that will continue this war/occupation in Iraq. I implore both of you to make this a priority to support a safe and swift orderly withdrawal from this unjust illegal occupation of Iraq. Supporting our troops is bringing them home. They must have fully-funded Veteran's medical care and other benefits when they come home. It is disheartening to read the comments of the military families that are experiencing their loved ones being stop-lossed to continue this occupation. One more day is too long to be in war! Politicians must stop politicizing ending this occupation -- while daily, lives are lost. Shame on them!! No to funding to continue this war/occupation.

As a concerned citizen,I urge to to take immediate steps to end this debacle of a war, and use other means to find alternative resolutions with Iraq. Our soldiers need to come home now ,they are stretched thinly as it is , being deployed to Iraq over and over again. Too many people have died as a result of a faulty foreign policy and regardless of what Bush says there needs to be a change in policy and direction.Often peaceful means and diplomacy may bring better results than escalating the conflict.

The democrats in Congress were elected by the American people to end the war in Iraq, and end the corruption in the White House. So far you have done neither. The invasion of Iraq was based on lies, and there is no reason to continue to occupy the country. Instead of ending the war, you have allowed the the President to send more troops to Iraq, putting more lives in danger for nothing! As U.S. Senators, it is your job to follow the will of U.S. citizens, and stand by the people that elected you.

Dear Senators, I know your political career is more important than my Airman and Soldiers' lives, but please do not keep funding this occupation. Take a look in the mirror, look into the eyes of your children and find the courage to say no!!!! Remember all the kids who will not be getting married this weekend like Bush's spawn. Damn him and damn you, if you continue this crime!!!!

I am a veteran of 22 years in the Air Force. We all can remember the politics of Vietnam and 58,000 plus who lost thier lives. I see alot of the surviving men and women at the VA hospital. At least President Clinton swallowed his pride and made the right decision to leave Somalia before it became a quagmire. If this war in Iraq is so important, then re-instate the draft. Then see how many Americans really support it.

The leadership of the Democratic Party disgraces itelf if, a year and a half after the people of this country gave it a mandate to disengage from Iraq, by digging us deeper into the war. Why does it not wrest the leadership from a regime which obtained power by fixing elections instead of shaking in fear over forging a better policy?

We are depending on you to represent our wishes and our needs. We need our soldiers to come home. We need to end this misbegotten war, and we need to stop killing people in Iraq for the sake of the oil corporations and the wealthy people who profit from the military-industrial complex. Let's make a break with this war, and this culture of militarism. We have plenty of problems both at home and in the whole planet that need our attention and our resources.

Do not support the Iraq War Appropriations Bill coming up for vote. I have a son who came back from Iraq injured his battalion had the highest fatalites in 2006 on Haifa Street. This government is causing irreprarable damages to the people in in Iraq, and destroying our famiies and economy at home. There are 120 suicides a week. You will be contributing to more deaths and essentially be a member of the killing machines of Washington.
# 881:

I have two sons in the Military. My Navy son has been deployed to the Persian Gulf three times and my National Guard son is in Iraq for his second deployment. This funding bill is an insult to my sons and all Military. Funding this war is killing our soldiers I don't care how many bribes are included. Our family and too many other families along with our Military sons and daughters have carried the burden of this illegal, immoral war for too long. No more funding and it will end. I have a son in the military who has been stop lossed and served 2 tours of duty in Afghanistan. I want him home now. If not for Iraq he would have been out of the military after 4 years of duty which is what he signed up for. He will serve a minimum of 5.5 years unless he is stop lossed again and then will need to complete a total of 7 years. This is a slap in the face of our military. Stop the funding for Iraq so that our soldiers can have the rest they need and tours in the military that are not in excess of what they originally expected their contracts required. Our family has another friend on our block who was injured 2 times in Iraq in two seperate occasions. A piece of metal loged in his chest and a bullet through his shoulder. He now suffers from PTSD and is still on IRR. He has been summoned by his recruiting office and he expects he will be sent back a third time. This is a crime that our government should treat its military personnel in this manner for a war that should never have taken place. A war in which the people were hood-winked into believing we needed to fight. A war that was an outright lie. Please stop the funding for this war in Iraq and do the right thing by our soldiers and the people of Iraq and the people of the United States of America NOW!

As the parent of an Iraq veteran, I know personal cost of this war. Each of you have the power to organize a filibuster to end funding for the war, now. Prove your leadership. If the Senate and Congress had the courage of our troops, you would stand up for peace and refuse to feed another dollar to the further occupation of Iraq. If it were a requirement for all those who vote for war or who continue to support war, to offer up a member of their immediate family to the death and destruction they have put into motion, there would be no more war.

# 872:

I cannot believe that we have continued as long as we have to fund a war which promises to drag on endlessly. We continue year after year to give money to President Bush, but he does nothing different year after year, except give speeches about so-called improvements that are taking place. We need a different exit strategy from Bush's same-old same-old and we need it now!! Don't give out more war money until a solid, realistic EXIT strategy is in place!

I can understand how you can be torn about the funding being asked for the war in Iraq. My main concern would be to make sure the troops over there had what they needed to survive. However, we have to stop this administration and we have to do it now. Too many young people have died both Americans and Iraqis. The war was wrong from the onset and you know it was wrong. The president and his henchmen lied to get us into Iraq and we need to bring the troops home safely and stop rubber stamping everything that the president puts before you. If not now, when?

The Iraq war (occupation) is a money maker for the war-profiteers, represented by major defense industry corporations, Congressmen who are benefitting from their defense industry stocks, Pentagon generals who represent corporate boards and media schills and all investors with private investments in the military-industrial complex. If the U.S. government is so sold on democracy and a functioning Iraq government, why are they sideing with Maliki, a Prime Minister, who is getting help in attacking his political opponent, Muktada el Sadhr? Why is there talk of a broad federation of states insead of a National government for Iraq? Why does one of the benchmarks promote and 80% share of the oil riches for foreign developers and a 20% share for the Iraqi people? If you read the facts instead of listen to the propaganda, " No blood for oil" should be our rallying cry! Get our troops out of Iraq.
