Freedom for Deyaa AlAbdulla

Deyaa Al-Abdullah was born in Sweida, Syria, on May 1973.

Deyaa is a poet and a political activist. He has a collection of poems and publications. He left the university after studying four years in the faculty of civil engineering, and decided to direct all of his interests into writing poems and cognitive research.

Only one book of the collection entitled Heart glimpse was allowed to be published, because none of the printing presses in the Arab world accept to take responsibility for dissemination as it deals with the Taboo Trinity (Muharram) (politics, religion, sex) or as he named it Al-Suddage ( sex, politics, religion ) "SPR", a metaphor for the first letters of those words in Arabic Language.

In addition, some of his poetic collection are the Abraha the Arabian , and the Holy Heretic, which had been preceded by a theory called Centered Violence , which formed the launching of his collection. Deyaa has published many cognitive studies in Al Rayess website.
Deyaa was arrested in the past when he first declared his political views in 1999 and was released after a year without a trial.
With the launch of the Syrian Revolution on March 15th, Deyaa had an active role through writing leaflets, organizing demonstrations and leading activists in his province "Sweida". Deyaa received many threats from the security forces but that did not stop him continue his great patriotic duty till his arrest on 29.06.2011.

After his arrest, a conspiracy began through statements by some journalists who pretend to be patriots, reported to security forces that Deyaa was smuggling weapons in order to discredit him and fabricate charges for implicating him.

We raise our highest concerns to the Syrian authorities and hold them responsible for anything that might threaten Deyaa Al Abdulla's life . We think that Deyaa has gone through the worst torture conditions by the Syrian security forces.

This is a call on the Syrian security forces to release Deyaa immediately, while he has not been presented to any juridical authority till this moment, although he has spent the legal period that is put before any prisoner is meant to be presented to the court which is 2 months at maximum ( due to the new customary law in Syria).

We call on all human rights organizations, and civil society organizations to focus on Deyaa Al Abdulla 's  case and all detainees of free speech and national movement in Syria, that has been a humanitarian and ethical case and should gain international respect and support.
