The city has voted to spend tax payer dollars to add parking to pecan park baseball fields, fields our kids haven't been able to play on much this season due to standing water and rain outs. For much less money we can overhaul every field with astroturf and load the bases with new dirt that won't hold water so our fields can light up again and the kids can play!
Parking is no problem here, volunteers spend more time pumping water off fields, raking and reworking them than kids spend playing on them.
La Porte tax payers - Please have a say so in where your money is going and vote to reallocate the funds that have already been given to the park. Let them know we don't want expanded parking, we NEED an overhaul on the fields - AstroTurf to get our kids playing again. If it rains all week, it won't stop a Saturday game anymore!
Even if you don't have kids playing, please take a moment and do this for your grandkids or your nieces and nephews that may play in a year or two.... or maybe your neighbors. Do it for your community. Thank you!
